Finnish Education Outreach has initiated a library project for Nyakrom Methodist School. The project aims to construct a library in the school. Even though the school provides necessities for the pupils, they cannot reach their full potential without the library. In addition to the school children, the entire village also benefits from the library. Building a library is a long-term source of joy that improves the village’s development potential.
Libraries enable access to information and facilitate learning. In Finland, libraries are part of the society’s basic services, which are often taken for granted. Every municipality provides library services, but the situation is not the same in Ghana. While libraries might be a mundane aspect for us Finns, they could be life-changing for the village of Nyakrom. Even a small amount of support will bring us closer to changing many people’s lives for the better.
Room has already been reserved for construction of the library, but the resources are lacking. The construction of the library requires construction materials such as plywood, nails, concrete and carpenter work. Kids also need desks and chairs for studying. Donations for the books are also welcome.
With a collaborative effort, the kids of Nyakrom would be able to pursue their aspirations, and it would be a dream come true for the residents of the village as well. The project has just started, and we are looking for participants to join us. You can help by donating, volunteering or advocating. The library project would enhance lifelong learning, writing, reading skills and contributing to sustainable development.
A small group works to promote the library project. In addition to the project manager, several volunteers work in the project. The members of the project and their specific tasks will be introduced in later blog posts. You can also follow the progress of the project on social media services, such as Instagram, Facebook and X.
Welcome to follow our journey.
